Terms of Reference – Information Management Interns (IM)

Duration: six months.

Organization

iMMAP is a pioneering humanitarian organisation that is leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles in the service of humanitarian relief and development.

IMMAP has capacity developing project for NGOs and individuals in information management, to achieve that iMMAP is implanting secondees project in purpose of strengthening the capacity of National NGOs and having Syrians expert pool in IM.

Scope of work

Ø The IM intern will work with the iMMAP Turkey team, with having Short term secondments duty to one of partners NGOs where assistance is required for on-site capacity building and/or information management assistance

Ø The interns will stay with iMMAP for one month to receive different type of IM trainings, coaching and mentoring then will be deployed to one of NGOs for 5 months.

Ø The IMA will be responsible for the spatial data, spatial analysis, websites, databases, maps, training materials and infographic products created for NGO partner.

Ø The full contract duration will be full six months paid by iMMAP

Essential Job Functions

GENERAL

Ø Liaise with other information management associates to build information management relationships for gathering reliable data and using data collection tools at the field level.

Ø Assist in the development of an Information Management project based on accepted international standards.

Ø The IMA is responsible of administration of relevant datasets and/or databases including content, structure, file location, backup system.

Ø Facilitate the organisation in building their IM internal capacity and system.

Ø Facilitate organisations to agree upon standards in describing and releasing their data.

Ø The IMA will use data collection tools which is developed by iMMAP information management unit as requested by the partners or other members of the iMMAP Turkey team

Ø The IMA will be responsible to create infographics, maps, dashboards, reports and all related IM products as requested by the partners.

Ø Attend meetings, conferences, workshops and humanitarian events related to activities of iMMAP Turkey

REPORTING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION

Ø The IMA will report to the Stand by Partnership Coordinator with Technical support of IMRC coordinator.

Ø The IMA will respect and follow the structured internal reporting system of the organisation which is seconded to.

REPRESENTATION

Ø Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with iMMAP in country associates, officers and staff, and external contacts with national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor agency officials, vendors, media, and the general public.

Ø Follow iMMAP's branding regulations required for marking, or branding, of all iMMAP products and correspondence.

SECURITY

Ø Follow security protocols as laid down by the iMMAP Global Security Advisor.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING

Ø As part of the iMMAP commitment to organizational learning, and in support of the understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, it is expected that the IMO will commit 5% of his time to learning activities that benefit iMMAP as well as individual professional development.

ACCOUNTABILITY TO BENEFICIARIES

Ø iMMAP team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to beneficiaries of iMMAP programs, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field projects.

OTHER

Any other duties as required.

Qualifications

Ø 2 years’ experience in emergency response, humanitarian environment or the technical field you are applying for.

Ø University degree and experience in an equivalent field for the position you apply for;

Ø Arabic skills, both spoken and written is required;

Ø English knowledge is strong advantage;

Ø Very good technical and computer skills ;

Ø Knowledge of GIS software, Data integration, IT, Computer engineering or Graphic design is an asset

Ø New graduated student from CIS, CS, IT, GIS, Statics or related field is highly encouraged to apply.
