iMMAP is an international nongovernmental organisation that provides information management services to humanitarian and development organizations. Through information management, we help our partners target assistance to the world’s most vulnerable populations. Our core philosophy is that better data leads to better decisions and that better decisions lead to better outcomes. iMMAP’s critical support to information value chains helps to solve operational and strategic challenges of our partners in both emergency and development contexts by enabling evidence-based decision-making for better outcomes.

Background

iMMAP is a pioneering organization that is leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles in the service of humanitarian relief and development. Over the past few years iMMAP has been providing information management support to selected humanitarian sectors in Ethiopia. In 2018, with a grant from the USAID/OFDA, it began the implementation of a local capacity development program aimed at strengthening the skills of nationally-recruited personnel, who will sustain the IM support to the sectors in the long run.

Presentation

Training and Capacity Building

· Liaise with other iMMAP IM Officers and ensure consistency and standardization of activities, and material where possible;

· Merge and provide monthly report to Programme Coordinator on a monthly basis - Communicate with all IM Officers frequently to ensure coordination

· Collect and keep track of all IM products produced by other iMMAP IM Officers.

· Regularly update IM indicators dedicated to project.

· Design and conduct surveys to assess capacity and training needs of humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia;

· Develop goals and objectives for capacity building programmes targeting humanitarian organizations and based on identified organizational needs;

· Design and develop capacity building curriculums, syllabi, and schedule of training workshops;

· Research, identify and develop new trainings on emerging tools and innovative humanitarian technologies that can improve efficiency of humanitarian organizations using information systems;

· Develop or identify training content or supporting resources such as presentations, practical exercises, and other supporting material;

· Conduct training evaluations for feedback and the identification of areas of improvement;

· Facilitate staff's ability to use existing and emerging technology to achieve organization's mission and objectives;

· Train and provide technical support to the identified staff as needed on all Information Management tools and processes;

· Provide mentorship and support within the scope of iMMAP capacity building plan;

· Any other duties as required.

Information and Communication

· Develop clear, standard communication/dissemination channels to partners and stakeholders;

· Assist in managing iMMAP publications in the country including requests for contributions from partners and any other design-related tasks that require support;

· Produce graphs and visuals to be included in iMMAP publication products;

· Liaise with iMMAP focal points/staff to coordinate the information collection on content of publications as well as dissemination of publications;

· Write feature stories, factsheets and opinion pieces in English for use in dissemination channels outlets;

· Ensure compliance with approved branding, marking and co-branding requirements with iMMAP’s donors and partners as per guidance.

Strategic Partnerships/Engagement

· Provide technical support to the development of proposals and expressions of interest in humanitarian, recovery and development areas in which iMMAP’s capacity and expertise can be harnessed to generate solutions to human problems;

· Provide support in identifying partners (within government ministries, departments and agencies, donors, national and international NGOs, research organizations, Red Cross/Red Crescent, the academia) on issues of strategic engagement to co-operate on humanitarian, recovery and development aspects of common importance;

· From time to time, represent iMMAP at fora and meetings, provide information about iMMAP’s activities, discuss and negotiate partnership and support possibilities with partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

A- Professional Qualifications and Experience:

o An advanced university degree or equivalent experience in the fields of education and information management;

o At least five years of relevant work experience and a background in non-profit, internationally-focused organizations;

o Understanding of the UN cluster/sector system and how it operates.

o Experience in humanitarian, crisis recovery and resilience aspects is highly desirable;

o An appreciation of considerations in designing training content focused on the needs of adult learners;

o Progressively responsible experience in designing needs assessments, data management, mapping and visualization, coaching and training.

o Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them with appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client;

o Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology;

o Representation: Where appropriate, represent the iMMAP in various fora. Maintain effective and positive contacts with the national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and donor agency officials, when required.
