ORGANISATION

iMMAP is a pioneering humanitarian organisation that is leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles in the service of humanitarian relief and development. The aim of this project in Jordan is to provide Information Management support to the RFSAN which is established alongside the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (UN-FAO).

In short, the RFSAN aims to build:

  1. The capacity of emergency food security and early warning units in the countries affected by the Syria crisis; 2. Technical consensus through a regular and thematic situational analysis of relevant food security drivers across countries in the sub-region; 3. Dissemination of well-analysed, high-quality information and use of best practices and lessons learned.

SCOPE OF WORK

The National Infographics Specialist will be responsible for management and production of all data, and infographics products created for the RFSAN. This role will work under the supervision of the International Data and Infographics Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Daily integration of data from governments, partners and other organisations involved in food security.

Ø Conceptualize and generate innovative visual mapping and graphics products.

Ø Integration of all the data into platforms for sharing.

Ø Production of infographic products.

Ø Provide inputs for innovative ways of displaying survey results on the web and hardopy.

Ø Provide ad hoc Arabic translation as needed

Ø Provide inputs to the quarterly and annual reports written by the CTO: performance indicators (number of maps and other products realized, number of maps and other products distributed, traceability of the usage of key products by humanitarian partners).

Ø Adhere to RFSAN branding guidelines for all RFSAN products and correspondence.

Team Management

Ø Establish leadership and personal credibility with the RFSAN team, and implement and create an organizational culture of accountability, responsibility and quality of services.

Representation

Ø Where appropriate, represent the RFSAN project team with partners, and participate in workshops.

Ø Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with the Regional Representative, and other iMMAP headquarters officers and staff, and external contacts including, national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor agency officials, vendors, media, and the general public.

Organizational Learning

As part of the iMMAP commitment to organizational learning, and in support of the understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, it is expected that all team members will commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit iMMAP as well as individual professional development.
Accountability to Beneficiaries
iMMAP team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to beneficiaries of iMMAP programs, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field projects.

Other Any other duties as required.

CHAIN OF COMMAND
The National Infographics specialist reports to the International Data and Infographics Expert in relation to all project work inside the RFSAN.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ø At least 3 years’ experience in using design packages such as Adobe Illustrator.

Ø Masters degree and experience in graphic design or an equivalent field

Ø Very good English and Arabic skills, both spoken and written.

Ø Web design experience.

Ø Experience in working with ArcGIS would be an advantage

Ø Experience in online web mapping using open source solutions would be an advantage.

Ø Experience in emergency response or humanitarian environment would be an advantage.

Ø Experience working in the Food Security environment would be an advantage

Ø Knowledge of the UN cluster system and how it operates would be an advantage
