scope of work
As the Syrian crisis continues to unfold, the number and sophistication of information management support services and products continue to increase. This is particularly true for the Syrian NGOs with little or no Information Management capacities.
In order to serve this broader context, the Business Intelligence/Analytics developer will be responsible for different activities and duties as outlined in the Responsibilities section below.
Under iMMAP Syria’s Capacity building and support to Syria crisis response actorsproject, the Business Intelligence/Analytics Developer will report to the iMMAP Syria Area Manager based in Turkey. S/he will support the planning, design and implementation of the information management activities for the project.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Support partners in the identification of their dashboards and reporting needs.
Ø Gather requirements, design and develop Business Intelligence reporting solutions.
Ø Design and develop interactive dashboards and data visualization products..
Ø Automate regular data visualization production.
Ø Deploy, maintain and train users on using the developed BI solutions.
Ø Any other duties as required.
EXPERIENCE
The BI/Analytics developer should have:
Ø Strong background in the design and implementation of Business Intelligence solutions.
Ø Experience developing using Microsoft BI Stack.
Ø Experience developing and designing data visualizations using PowerBI and Tableau.
Ø In depth knowledge of relational database systems and database modeling.
Ø Hands on experience developing efficient SQL queries.
Ø Experience creating and maintaining extract, transform, and load (ETL) tasks and processes.
Ø Sound knowledge of software project management and Agile development methodologies.
Ø Working experience developing humanitarian dashboards and reports is a plus.

REPRESENTATION
Ø Where appropriate, represent the iMMAP project team with partners, and participate in local community activities.
Ø Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with the Regional Representative, and other iMMAP headquarters officers and staff, and external contacts with the national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and donor agency officials, when required.
SECURITY
Ø Follow security protocols as laid down by the iMMAP Global Security Advisor.

Ø As part of the iMMAP commitment to organizational learning, and in support of the understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, it is expected that all team members will commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit iMMAP as well as individual professional development.

Ø iMMAP team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to beneficiaries of iMMAP programs, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field projects.
Qualifications
Ø Education: First level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline) . A master’s level qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Ø Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in Business Intelligence/Analytics development. Work experience specific to the Syria response and the UN Cluster System would be an asset.
Ø Language: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required.
Ø Flexibility to work in a multi-cultural environment with international and national staff and a kindness and acute sensitivity to different attitudes, cultures, and behaviors.
Ø Self-sufficiency and proven ability to work independently and take initiative is key
