Jordan: Regional Programme Director

iMMAP is looking for exceptional candidates for the position of Regional Programme Director for its Middle East & Northern Africa (MENA) Regional Office based in Amman, Jordan.

A Programme specialist with a minimum of 8 years of relevant leadership / management experience working in a humanitarian / recovery context, ideally as a Country Director. A strategic thinker and an exceptional communicator with the capacity to inspire and lead a network of skilled programme staff across the region. In addition, we are seeking an individual with a deep understanding of the challenges of working in coordination mechanisms and a solid knowledge of the context in region.

In this position, you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people via a humanitarian-to-humanitarian mandate.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

· Ensure the strategic development of Programme Support and Roving Capacity systems and structures that maximise support to the Country Offices

· Capitalise on regional opportunities and experiences to further strengthen and develop iMMAP’s programmes in the region

· Ensure current donor relations are well managed and utilized to a maximum and further explore potential new donor opportunities within the region

· Serve as the focal point for input of relevant content to the region’s annual and quarterly reports

· Serve as the region’s focal point to HQ on program compliance and related issues

· Oversee the timely recruitment of programme staff for the regional office

· Liaise with country directors and country office program leads to ensure effective and constructive communication between related functions and country offices

· Manage performance and staff development of the regional office staff with reference to respective ToR’s

· Ensure that heads of section are accountable for results

· Ensure implementation of, and, adherence to iMMAP’s global policies and initiatives

· In cooperation with the Regional Director, explore and create synergies between country offices related to programmatic support and development

· Identify, develop and coordinate regional resource mobilisation opportunities

· Contribute to increase the profile of iMMAP as a leading humanitarian organisation in the region

· Foster solid working relationships with key staff within the regional donor community and other relevant stakeholders

· Provide technical support and strengthen capacities on specific programmatic aspects

· Upon request deputize for the iMMAP MENA Regional Director

Salary/benefits: According to iMMAP’s salary scale and terms and conditions. This position does not offer international or relocation benefits / allowances.

Duty station: Amman

Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start

iMMAP may be required to verify the identity of its partners and to check that its partners have not been involved in illegal activities. iMMAP reserves the right to use electronic screening tools for this purpose.

Minimum Qualifications

· Master’s degree in social sciences, engineering, project management, international and humanitarian development or related fields.

· At least eight years’ experience in project design and management responsibilities, including needs assessments, proposal development, project implementation planning, and performance tracking and reporting.

· Experience to include substantive programming knowledge in specific countries of interest.

· Practical programming and knowledge in humanitarian coordination mechanism.

· Governance and leadership.

· Fluency in written and spoken English.

· Previous management of a culturally diverse team.

Desirable Qualifications

· Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, Turkish

· Previous experience as a Country/Regional Director

· Knowledge of information management systems

Key Competencies

· Proven project planning, organization, coordination and control skills.

· Demonstrated experience implementing projects through partner organizations and collaboration with academia, private donors and corporates for program quality.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through teams and collaboration.

· Understanding of project financial budgeting and resource management.

· Ability to work in environments with ambiguity, and with teams of diverse languages and cultures.

· Willingness to travel extensively in the region (up to 50%).
