iMMAP is a pioneering humanitarian organization that is leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles in the service of humanitarian relief and development.

scope of work

Under the direct supervision of the Common Services Unit Lead, the successful candidate is responsible for building, configuring and maintaining websites and content management systems for iMMAP and the humanitarian community partners.

In order to achieve this objective, iMMAP is delivering Information Management trainings, IMO secondments, and common services (assessment support, maps, infographics, databases, websites) for Syrian and Turkish NGOs as well as the UN Cluster System.

The Common Services Unit is comprised of a diversity of information management professionals in fields such as needs assessment, software development, database management, graphic design, geographic information systems and remote sensing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Plan, build, deploy and maintain professional websites and content management systems using Drupal and Wordpress.

Ø Gather and analyse user requirements and design appropriate solutions.

Ø Develop and maintain appropriate documentation.

Ø Any other duties as required.

Qualifications

Ø Education: First level university degree is required (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline).

Ø Work experience specific to the humanitarian field, Syria response or the UN Cluster System would be an asset.

Ø Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required.

Ø Flexibility to work in a multi-cultural environment with international and national staff. Humility, kindness and an acute sensitivity to different attitudes, cultures, and behaviours is needed.

Ø Self-sufficiency and proven ability to work independently and take initiative is key.

Expected technical skills:

Ø Strong PHP, MySQL and Apache skills.

Ø In-depth knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and modern Javascript libraries (jQuery, Node.js, Angular.js, D3.js, etc).

Ø Hands on experience with responsive design, Bootstrap and mobile-first development.

Ø Strong Drupal and/or Wordpress development skills.

Ø Experience with RESTful web services API design and development.

Ø Knowledge of common web application security concepts.

Ø Practical understanding of Agile development principles and practices is a plus.

Ø Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be “clients” and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view; establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect; identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions; monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems; meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client

Ø Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.

Ø Any other duties as required.

Ø Following security protocols and measures as laid down by the iMMAP Global Security Advisor is mandatory.
